Job Summary

This position is responsible for providing day-to-day oversight, direction and supervision of staff and volunteers and coordination of funding streams for the Walla Walla Teen Shelter.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Coordinate the day-to-day operations of the program, supervise and evaluate the direct care staff, and ensure the completion of each youth’s plan for care and treatment.
  2. Work with the case management to provide appropriate services on site
  3. Oversee implementation of goals and action plans for the programs at the Walla Walla Teen Shelter.
  4. Provide paid staff and volunteers with the training, supervision and support they need to carry out their responsibilities in a competent and professional manner.
  5. Provide input into the development and implementation of a budget based on data regarding cost per client served.
  6. Assist in ensuring that facility and programs are in compliance with all applicable contractual, licensing, staffing, safety mandates and data quality.
  7. Maintain legible, organized, and up-to-date records through the use of a homeless database, as well as hard copy recordkeeping processes and grant spend down spreadsheets.
  8. Provide clear, concise and empathetic information in all written and verbal communication interactions.
  9. Act as a liaison, as needed, with other community agencies to support community goals and system-driven compliance mandates.
  10. Work with case manager to provide information and referrals as needed and link residents with community resources and to improve coordination between community agencies and program participants.
  11. Provide feedback, as needed, to assist residents with problem-solving, conflict resolution, family relationships and interpersonal concerns and attainment of goals.
  12. Provide oversight for residents of policies and procedures to ensure that the Walla Walla Teen Shelter rules are being followed.
  13. Adhere to an environment that fosters direct communication and a strengths-based approach to service delivery.
  14. Accompany or appoint a designee to accompany youth who must leave during the day to attend school or other necessary appointments.
  15. Serve as a residential manager fulfilling all duties associated with building management including, but not limited to, serving as a liaison with the building landlord and coordinating all maintenance and necessary repairs.
  16. Enter data into established entry system(s), exit and follow up, as required; provide monthly reports documenting activities for funding sources and attend required meeting as applicable. Ensure client data in HMIS is current, accurate and entered in real time.
  17. Ensure client confidentiality according to Catholic Charities policies and procedures.
  18. Perform related functions, including advocacy, to support the mission of Catholic Charities.
  19. Adheres to the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrine.
  20. Performs related functions necessary to support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.

Job Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.

Education/Experience: to perform this job successfully, an individual must have either a Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related field and at least one year of experience working with street youth, or a Bachelor of Arts degree in social work or related field and at least five years of experience working with street youth. Demonstrated leadership, administrative and interpersonal skills required. Knowledge of community resources; experience in direct client services and case management. Be a high energy, self-motivated individual; team player who understands and appreciates the value of a strength-based value-driven, systems-approach to program implementation and service delivery. Possess advanced computer skills. Experience working with issues of homelessness, poverty and street youth preferred.

Certificates/Licenses: To perform this job successfully, an individual must:

  • have a valid Driver’s License
  • Successfully pass background check applicable to position.

Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

  • Regularly sit, stand, climb, walk, lift, pull/push, carry, grasp, reach, stoop/crouch, crawl, talk, hear.
  • Frequently lift up to 25 pounds, pull/push, carry, grasp, reach.
