Job Summary

This position is responsible for general ledger accounting for Catholic Charities programs.

Job Duties/Responsibilities

  1. Performs various monthly accounting operations including, account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and monthly allocation, and monthly allocation JV entries.
  2. Code ACH receipts and other A/R receipts for Contributions Clerk to record in the accounting software.
  3. Verifies the accuracy of accounts payable and accounts receivable coding prior to posting.
  4. Assists in the maintenance of chart of accounts information structure in the accounting system for CCS.
  5. Checks the A/P Edits for errors and correct coding.
  6. Helps maintain MIP chart of accounts information by segment and distribution codes.
  7. Records all A/R invoices in and scan/attach supporting documentation for online lookup.
  8. Prepares periodic non-grant accounts receivable invoices for submission.
  9. Codes and posts accounts receivable and cost of goods sold transactions for the Furnishings for Hope Retail store.
  10. Monitors restricted contribution and other fund transactions and reports activity and status to applicable programs.
  11. Responsible for all SACFC A/R tuition collection efforts, reminder letters, and submission of bad debt for collections.
  12. Performs the transfer of monthly SACFC receivable and revenue transactions from the ProCare software into the MIP accounting system.
  13. Assists with the preparations for the annual audit and other Finance Department activities as required.
  14. Responsible for picking-up mail at the Post Office and provides backup to the AP Clerk for the distribution of CCFSC mail to department mailboxes as appropriate.
  15. Provides backup coverage to the Receptionist as needed.
  16. Adheres to the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrines.
  17. Performs as a team member to assure that productivity outcome measures are achieved.
  18. Performs related functions necessary to support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.

Job Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job.

Education/Experience: to perform this job successfully, an individual must have a High School Diploma or a General Education Degree. An Associate’s Degree in accounting is strongly preferred. A minimum of three (3) years’ experience accounting/bookkeeping support capacity; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certificates/Licenses: this job does not require any specific certifications. Successfully pass background check applicable to position.

Physical Abilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to:

  • Regularly sit, stand, climb, walk, hear/listen, talk
  • Frequently lift up to 25 pounds, pull/push, carry, grasp, reach
  • Occasionally crawl, stoop, kneel
